Thanks to Edward and Ruth for their ballot reading brunch. Here\u2019s what I have so far\u2026 I\u2019d love your input (I\u2019ll post comments people submit to me below)\u2013<\/p>\n<p><em>Elected Offices<\/em><\/p>\n<p>U.S. President: Hillary Clinton (if you&#8217;re in a battleground state, please vote lesser-of-evils Clinton, rather than Green or Libertarian or whatever, to inflict the least suffering on the largest number of humans and our planet)<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Vice President: Tim Kaine<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Senator: Kamala Harris<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Representative: Picus, a Bernie Democrat running as an independent, as protest against Pelosi (thanks to Edward for changing my mind on this one)<\/p>\n<p>California State Senator: Jane Kim (don&#8217;t even get me started on Wiener)<\/p>\n<p>California State Assemblymember: David Chiu<\/p>\n<p>Judge of the Superior Court, Office No. 7: Victor Hwang<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco Board of Education (up to four):<\/p>\n<p>Stevon Cook<br \/>\nMatt Haney<br \/>\nMark Sanchez<br \/>\nRachel Norton<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco Community College Board (up to four):<\/p>\n<p>Shanell Williams<br \/>\nTom Temprano<br \/>\nAlex Randolph<br \/>\n(I can&#8217;t bring myself to vote for Rafael Mandelman due to his collaboration with the forces taking over City College and the other candidate is worse)<\/p>\n<p>BART Director District 9: Bevan Dufty<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco Board of Supervisors District 1: Sandra Lee Fewer (crucial to keeping a progressive majority, thanks Gabriel!)<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco Board of Supervisors District 3: Aaron Peskin<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco Board of Supervisors District 5: Dean Preston<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco Board of Supervisors District 7: Norman Yee<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco Board of Supervisors District 9: Hilary Ronen (you have three choices for ranked voting, but the others aren&#8217;t worthy of a ranking in my opinion)<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco Board of Supervisors District 11: Kimberly Alveranga (crucial to keeping a progressive majority, thanks Gabriel!)<\/p>\n<p><em>California Propositions<\/em><\/p>\n<p>51: No (especially because of the $500 million in charter school funding)<br \/>\n52: Yes<br \/>\n53: No<br \/>\n54: Yes<br \/>\n55: Yes<br \/>\n56: Yes<br \/>\n57: Yes<br \/>\n58: Yes<br \/>\n59: Yes (finally made it to the ballot this year)<br \/>\n60: No (does nothing to increase safer sex while anyone could sue adult film industry)<br \/>\n61: No (may result in increased drug prices and red tape delays)<br \/>\n62: <strong>Yes<\/strong> (abolish the death penalty! although the forced labor section is suboptimal)<br \/>\n63: Yes<br \/>\n64: <strong>Yes<\/strong> (legalize it!)<br \/>\n65: No<br \/>\n66: No<br \/>\n67: Yes<\/p>\n<p><em>Regional Proposition<\/em><\/p>\n<p>RR: Yes<\/p>\n<p><em>San Francisco Propositions<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A: Yes<br \/>\nB: Yes<br \/>\nC: Yes<br \/>\nD: Yes<br \/>\nE: Yes<br \/>\nF: Yes<br \/>\nG: Yes<br \/>\nH: Yes<br \/>\nI: Yes<br \/>\nJ: Yes<br \/>\nK: Yes<br \/>\nL: Yes<br \/>\nM: Yes<br \/>\nN: Yes<br \/>\nO: No (proponents still haven&#8217;t built housing promised with prior proposition)<br \/>\nP: No (city forced to reject good bid if three bids not received)<br \/>\nQ: No<br \/>\nR: No<br \/>\nS: Yes<br \/>\nT: Yes<br \/>\nU: No (misleadingly named trick by developers)<br \/>\nV: Yes<br \/>\nW: Yes<br \/>\nX: Yes<br \/>\n&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each election I prepare a slate card for my friends so we can debate how to vote here in San Francisco (and beyond).
